Intial syn with fully charged batteries failed. I would get yellow flash on camera, which indicates low charge battery. When I plugged the charger cord into camera, camera blue light lit up and it allowed me to syn camera. I have total five cameras and each one required the same plug in charger adapter process in order to sync to base. Each time after this process, the settings indicated batteries were fully charged for all cameras. Thought it may have been just an initial issue with first time sync of cameras. I purchased two weeks later two replacement batteries and a double charger to allow a quick change out of batteries in-place since 4 of 5 are mounted outside, with 2 of 4 requiring a 10' ladder to gain access to them. Installed end of Jan 2018 and primary view active camera needs new recharged battery as of 18 Aril 2018. Replacement battery came out of overnighted double charger with green light indicating fully charged. Popped the cover off camera and inserted the new battery. Checked camera status and said off line. Went through several trouble shooting debugging research with no resolution. I pushed the sync button on camera and it flashed yellow, low charge battery. I took down camera and brought inside to base station. Pushed sync on camera again and still yellow light. I then plugged the Arlo charge adapter in and immediately went to blue light on camera and was back on the network. The camera settings then said 100% fully charged. I unplugged the charging adapter and camera went off line again, saying low battery . Upon the second insert of the charging adapter into camera and removal I was able to get camera to stay on-line with 100% battery status. I believe that there is a firmware issue that requires the charging adapter to be used during intial sync and also after a battery is removed. Each time, with a fully charged battery, the camera would not connect to base until charger plug was inserted into camera. I was glad to see that camera maintained it's name/sync with base with the battery replacement. I have another camera which will need battery replaced soon, which is at the 10' mounted location. Will do that when battery status requires it, hopefully I won't have to unscrew it from base and bring inside to do the charge adapter plug in to re-activate it. May take out extension cord and Arlo charging adapter so not to have to unscrew it from mount, will advise if same issue encountered. Hope Arlo can modify firmware and/or resolve this issue. Put this on forum so that others who encounter same issue may reach same resolution of issues I encountered.

Unless the battery is defective, you should NOT have to plug in the adapter to resync the camera. Nor does the camera need to be resync'ed if just swapping a tired battery for a new charged one ( unless out of range of the base unit ).

I change the batteries all the time and it just auto - resyncs ( fast blue flash )

If you having issues, I'd contact Netgear Support

In addition, there's 2 different amber flahings. a very slow one (every few seconds) is the low battery one. A rapid flashing LED means it didn't sync. Which one were you seeing? Perhaps the camera is at the ragged edge of being able to connect to the base when it's in position?
