Can you give more information on exactly who told you this? If Arlo, did you google for a support phone number? That usually leads to a scam support site.
All current camera models require a subscription for cloud storage. That began in 2018 when Arlo introduced the Ultra.

Exactly who told me? Two Arlo sales reps. IMO it isn’t a scam site it’s bait n switch from Arlo. They want to everyone off the legacy plan

Arlo has no conduit for presales advice, and contacting support requires a subscription.
How did you reach them?
You say two sales reps? Does that mean you contacted them twice?

Arlo tried to force all their legacy customers from the Pro and Pro 2 series to start paying subscription fees in 2018 I think. After a lot of complaints, likely some legal advice and a complete collapse of the used market for legacy Arlo cameras they relented and reinstated the 7 day free cloud storage for legacy customers. Then they upgraded the app multiple times with each upgrade being progressively worse, full of glitches no tech support and all of a sudden what was a great platform honestly now sucks. I apologized to all my friends that I told to buy Arlo products that are now stuck with troubleshooting them all the time. Sold my Arlo stock. The only thing the App does well now is suggest you should upgrade to get 'new' features you don't need meanwhile most of the old features no longer work. I'm remote for the winter and I'm down to one camera out of 8 that is still working. System worked great for about 10 years. Buy something else this is a company you can't trust over time.
