My question is whether it is possible to extract some standard stream (RTSP) from the camera, for example for recording on the NAS! Also, does the camera stream continuously or only when it detects movement?

Unfortunately, no.

Normally only when it detects movement.
There is a separate CVR subscription for continuous video recording. It also requires that the camera be powered on AC power (not solar), and that it be connected through an Arlo Hub (not to your home wifi).
Been a while since I tried it, but I didn't think it was worth the cost. There were gaps in the video, and it was hard to navigate the timeline. There is also no way to download any of the video, so if you need that you need to record the PC/Phone screen while you are playing back the section of interest.

How disgusting we won't get the ability to freely view the video a device we paid for is recording using electricity we pay for and internet we are paying for.
Why do I need Arlo cloud exactly? Oh: because they force me to use it. They'll never get another penny
