Hi Arlo Community,
IHAQ about mix/matching cameras...
I'm using Arlo Pro 2 (3 cameras) with the VMB4000r3 base station. As a transition plan, can I add a few 5s to my Arlo app and use both cameras types on the same network? The 5s wouldn't connect to my base station, but just connect to wifi.
Thanks,
Mike

Generally, that would be fine as long as you realize you need a subscription for the new cameras if you want cloud recordings.

Thanks jguerdat, that helped!
I do have 2 additional questions if you don't mind...
Q1) Given my current setup, can I upgrade to the VMB5000, move my Arlo Pro 2 cameras to that SmartHub and still use free 7-day cloud storage through EOL 2025?
Q2) At the same time, add an Arlo Pro 5s to the hub, use Arlo Secure trial and make a determination later whether to continue subscription or use local storage on the SmartHub in case I don't want to continue subscription for the 5s?
Thanks,
Mike

First, to clarify one thing: Arlo is now saying that the 7-day cloud storage will continue indefinitely.
But you can move the Pro 2 cameras to a VMB5000 and still keep the free 7-day cloud storage for those cameras. You can also just keep using your existing VMB4000 - adding a new base for for the Pro 5s cameras if you like. Those can be in the same account.

Yes. In fact, I'd recommend doing this, as ideally you want to get direct access to local storage up and running before the trial runs out - making sure you can access the local recordings both locally and remotely.
Also, you can see if the other subscription features have value for you (smart notifications and activity zones).
The free 7-day cloud storage is only available if you have 5 or fewer unsubscribed cameras in the account. (That is not a new requirement). That 5 camera limit would also include the Pro 5s camera(s) if you drop the subscription.

Thanks StevenB! So, now I'm using two Arlo Pro 2's (7-day free cloud storage) and the Pro 5s (no sub). I'm thinking about paying for the subscription for the Pro 5s while keeping the 7-day cloud storage with the Arlo Pro 2's.
Can I do this on the same account? Will my Arlo Pro 2's stop the 7-day free cloud storage?
Thanks,
Mike

Yes. Though if you have three or more Pro 5s cameras, the multicamera subscription is cheaper than the individual camera subs. And that would cover all your cameras (including the Pro 2s).
