Please - can I connect the external magnetic charging cable to an existing external power supply that is currently used for a permanently-powered floodlight or does it have to be connected to an internal power socket? Thank you.

What is "an externally-located power supply"? the Arlo power brick just needs to plug into the typical wall socket - does your power supply offer that? There's no way around that without somehow modifying the Arlo equipment.

Assuming you mean the indoor cable, which isn't weatherproofed, it would have to be a USB (5v) connection. The outdoor charger has a permanently connected cable so can't be (easily) used. Also, the outdoor charger supplies 9v which may or may not be an issue.

Thanks for your answer. No, I was planning to use an external cable with a permanent connection both to the camera and to the existing external power supply.

Without using the magnetic connector, you'd need to hack the camera and/or case to get power properly applied. And it still needs to be 5VDC, not something like house power that runs the floodlight.

I am so sorry but I think that we are talking cross purposes here. My intention is to use the proprietary Arlo external power supply, not a home-made one. I would use the magnetic connector to connect to the camera but am wondering how/if I can connect the mains power brick to an externally-located power supply. Thanks again for your help.
