I have  a new Arlo Pro 5S 2K. How do we apply a different Activity Zone to Arm Away vs. Arm Home vs. Standby? Where is the menu that shows which are applied in which mode?

Also, after creating an Activity Zone, there is no Save or Done button— so, how do I know it will be applied, and to which mode?

(I've wasted 3 hours of my life on the phone with Arlo tech support who know nothing and spend the time reading up.)

A good idea, but unfortunately Arlo doesn't have this.

I must be missing something here. If there is no differentiation in security, what is the point of having the 3 different modes of Arm Away, Arm Home, & Standby if you can't have each one activate different areas/zones of security? It just doesn't make sense. I read that you can create up to three or five Activity Zones per camera.

There are differentiations in security, but not for activity zones specifically.

Within each mode you can

  • arm/disarm individual cameras altogether
  • enable/disable motion detection or audio detection cameras
  • set different motion and audio detection thresholds for individual cameras
  • enable/disable all notifications for individual cameras
  • enable/disable recording for individual cameras
  • set up cross triggering (telling camera A to also record when camera B triggers).

All the above can be set up differently for each mode.

You can set

  • smart notifications
  • spotlight/nightvision settings
  • activity zones

for each camera, but these settings apply to all modes (and cannot be set differently for different modes).

FWIW, I think it is a bit inconsistent, and see value in letting people set smart notifications, nightvision/spotlight settings, and activity zones per mode.
