I've had periodic logon difficulties viewing my Arlo Dashboard from my Linux laptop since I starting using Arlo about 5  years ago.  Other than a trust issue when I upgraded my Android Cell (also Linux) I never have Android login issues. At any rate with my Linux laptop I've never had a problem logging on to the Arlo store but recent logon fails with the Arlo Dashboard due to reports on the logon web page: "No internet"  and "Request timed out."

PROBLEM:

After entering the logon credentials on the Arlo Dashboard on my Linux laptop. I first get a banner in red at the top of the screen (which is so fleeting that it's easy to miss) which reports "No Internet" and then almost immediately afterwards a different colored banner at the top which reports "Request Timed Out".  I most definitely have internet so I am not sure why this is occurring.  I've tried all the usual fixes: clear the browser cache, tried a different browser, rebooted the laptop-----same problem.

The last thread I saw on this community board with the same symptoms was in August 2023 with no apparent universal solution and the thread closed.  Anyone figure this out or can post the link to a solution that I missed. Thanks in advance

I typically use Vivaldi (Chrome based) as my web browser of choice (on my Linux laptop) and unfortunately I've been consistently getting the "No internet"  and  the "Request Timed Out"  pop up messages which makes logging in to My Arlo Dashboard impossible.   Others having been having this problem in at least two other community board threads with no universal solution.  It did not appear that all those with problems were all using the Linux OS on their laptop/desktop.

I've been testing a few different web browsers and finally got the Brave web browser to allow me to consistently login to My Arlo Dashboard.  The Brave web browser is also Chrome based and I used its default security and ad blocking settings that, as far as I know, are similar to the default ones I'm using on Vivaldi.    I have no clue why one browser causes "No Internet" and "Request timed out"  issues and the other doesn't but Brave browsers worked for me.

Since I have no idea what causes the issue using the Brave browser may not be a universal solution.  At any rate I consider my issue solved.

I have a few similar issues but not just with Arlo. I have Spectrum's 1Gb service and I find that they force the use of their own DNS servers over my router settings. That seems to cause some connection problems (IP address can't be found sort of issue) but some/many times refreshing the page, perhaps multiple times, can get me where I'm going. I haven't searched a lot but it seems like there's no workaround.

As for Android, I've found that Android 15 along with Arlo (and a few other hit and miss sites) seems to have issues with internet connections. On boot, I get 5-7 Arlo messages that internet connection was lost and geofencing won't work. I have to let the phone settle down, clear the messages and then all works properly. The other sites will occasionally flash "no internet" followed by display of the page. Android 14 didn't display any of these issues. BTW, this was on 2 different phones - a Pixel 6 traded in for a Pixel 9 so it's not a specific phone issue.

Thanks for taking the time to look at my issue.

I'm also using Spectrum's 1Gb internet service but have always used Spectrum's DNS servers. I've been issue free with Spectrum and my own local Netgear network except with login issues on the Arlo Dashboard.  I've never had any Android issues either using the Arlo app (currently using a Samsung  running Android 14).  However, sometimes I'd like to view either live video feeds or video clips on a larger screen.   I find it difficult to understand how logging in to the Arlo Store is flawless but I can't get into the Arlo Dashboard.

Arlo doesn't officially support Linux as such so to some degree you're on your own. However, since you're just using a web browser it should work as with any other OS.  Any chance you could try a different OS computer on your network? Using your Android phone should work fine as long as you set the mobile browser to use the desktop version.

Android OS is just another Linux distribution and the Arlo app for Android has always worked fine for me.    Arlo's Dashboard for viewing your home Arlo cameras on a laptop or desktop computer is a web application and, as far as I know, OS agnostic.   So if there's an issue it might be with either my web browser not following web standards,  Arlo's web app not following them   or both.   I'd be happy to use any particular web browser recommended by Arlo but I'm not aware that they make a recommendation.  I'm going to try a few more different browsers to see if any of them allow me to logon reliably.  Possibly the security or ad blocking settings on my web browser is causing the issue but no one in previous threads on the community board have suggested this might an issue.

Arlo's web based Dashboard works fine for me if I can logon; however,  if Arlo's logon security is so high that it keeps out paying customers then the security is counter-productive.

As an ex-Unix/Linux/Windows system admin, I'm fully aware of Android's roots but it's an officially-supported OS. Using a different browser than Chrome on Android likely would also be unsupported. I believe there used to be a page showing supported OSes and browsers but my quick search didn't find anything useful. Generally, Chrome, Firefox and Edge would be supported as well as Windows, MacOS, iOS and Android.

Glad you have some sort of solution.

This is largely irrelevant to the solution of this issue----which I solved myself----, but worth pursuing briefly and no further.

Android is supported in the sense that Arlo has offered a native application to run on it.  And so bugs found by users in the native app are likely to be fixed.   Whether Arlo Tech support is offering to solve general Android OS phone problems that may cascade to an Arlo app failure is doubtful.   if they are then bless them.

The whole point of the Internet Protocol Stack is to allow clients and servers running on different OSs to communicate and operate.  Hence Arlo doesn't have to support any OS in order to honestly offer their Arlo Dashboard service to any desktop/laptop running any standard web browser.  If this was not the case Arlo would legally have to inform Linux households that their Dashboard service is not for Linux OS users----a little over 6 million households in the US.  Again I doubt Arlo tech support is solving Windows or Mac OS issues for customers which cascade to an Arlo Dashboard issue.

As a "superuser/guru"  possibly you could communicate with the Arlo Tech Support to determine if the "No Internet" and "Request Timed Out" messages are coming from their Dashboard servers and under what conditions these messages are generated.  Perhaps they could suggest faulty settings in the client browser that are causing this and relieving the unwashed masses from this annoying issue.
