Long story short, I'm mounting the camera using a plastic cup.  I'll share, I'm mounting the camera in a bush, using a plastic drink cup.  There is a possibility that the camera can fall out of the cup, strong wind, etc.

The question is can I tape it across the mid section to prevent it from falling out?  Will I risk blocking any of the important sensors?

There is the camera, light, two little IR(?) light, mic, and speaker.  Is there anything behind that black plastic that's part of the detection system?

I think there are better methods.

Some of several twist and clamp mounts that will fit the camera are:

There's also the passive infrared (PIR) sensor that is used to detect motion.  That is located between the lens and the speaker, so you likely will block it with your tape.  How much that matters depends on how much IR the tape absorbs.

Nice, thank you.  Didn't know someone already invent stuff like this.  Believe it or not, I've been dealing with set up for 3-5 years.  Never figure I ask this "silly" question, until my camera actually fell out of the cup, down, and hit the ground.  No damage to the camera (i think), still works.
