I'm trying to set up an Arlo Pro 4 for the back yard. My wifi connection to the back isn't great, so I bought a Synology MR2200ac to extend my network and act as a repeater. It is NOT connected to my Synology RT2600ac router via ethernet.
When I try to connect to any of my cameras when the access point is turned on, they don't work. If I turn the access point off, they do work.
Arlo's docs suggest getting a base station and connecting it via Ethernet to your router to extend the range of the camera system, but is it possible to extend the range without one, or without an Ethernet connection? I bought the Arlo Pro 4 because it didn't require a base station, so I assumed it would act like any other device on a repeater. My other devices (cell phone, laptop, etc) work fine on the repeater.
Thanks

Does the camera connect to the router (no extender)? Is the SSID from the extender the same as the router's? Have you tried disabling the 5GHz band on the extender to see if it connects? Are you using a single SSID for both bands?

Did you set up the MR2200ac as a repeater? (not sure if this is possible, and am guessing that you aren't being precise on your terminology).
Normally it is set up as an "additional WiFi point" as described in the MR2200ac hardware installation manual and is running as a wireless access point/extender (creating a mesh network). https://global.download.synology.com/download/Document/Hardware/HIG/Router/19-year/MR2200ac/enu/Syno...
You don't want to set up the MR2200ac as a router, so if you did that I suggest redoing the setup.

Did you do this because the camera needs the better wifi? Or because you want good WiFi for your other devices?
If the latter, you could look for a setting that disables 2.4 ghz wifi - then the pro-4 would connect to the router.
You might also want to pursue this with Synology. They have a troubleshooting guide here: https://kb.synology.com/en-us/SRM/tutorial/Wifi_client_disconnection
Note at the end they include how to contact Synology support.

Camera connects to the main router when the access point is disabled, yes. SSID on extender is same as the router, and both bands.
