I have read through several topics on these forums, but it seems like some conflicting info.  I’m trying to fully understand the differences between the VMB4540 and the VMB5000.  I’m sure I’m just misunderstanding something here. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

In this thread (https://community.arlo.com/t5/Arlo-Pro-3/Pro3-Base-VMB4540-Question/m-p/1732663/thread-id/136), OP got the answers he/she felt they needed, but their first question is specifically about Zigbee. I have the same question, but about Z-Wave.  It looks like JamesC said the VMB4540 does have Zigbee, but there isn’t mention of Z-wave. So, I looked at the Data Sheets for the two base stations, thinking I could just piece the puzzle together myself. However, that’s where the seemingly conflicting info appeared.

The data sheet for the VMB4540 (https://www.arlo.com/en-us/images/documents/arlopro3/Arlo_Pro3_Data_Sheet_US.pdf) does not say it contains Zigbee.  It just says ArloRF.  However, James says it does in that previous discussion I reference above.  So, I assume James is correct. Does that mean the data sheet is inaccurate, or am I reading this wrong?

For comparison, the data sheet for the VMB5000 does show Zigbee and Z-wave (https://www.arlo.com/en-us/images/Documents/ArloUltra/Arlo_Ultra_Family_DS_11Jan19.pdf).  Ultimately, I would like to buy an Arlo Pro 3 system with the VMB4540, but I want to make sure it has Z-wave and I won’t be missing anything from the base station perspective instead of the VMB5000.

Gregor1an,

VMB4540 is ZWave, Zigbee, and ArloRF™ ready, the same as VMB5000.

Does this help (also check out the individual datasheet links)?  I think you'll be fine just purchasing the latest Arlo 3 product.

Thanks Mikey94025, but unfortunately it doesn’t address the specific question I posed.

I looked at that link many times, as well as the data sheets (that’s where I got the data sheet links for my original post).  It does not say the VMB4540 has Zigbee or Zwave in the data sheet, but an Arlo rep said it does have Zigbee. So I’m curious about Zwave as well, and if it does, why isn’t that info accurately represented on the data sheet?

Good morning!

Are there any Arlo reps that are able to confirm if the VMB4540 does or does not have Zwave?

Gregor1an,

VMB4540 is ZWave, Zigbee, and ArloRF™ ready, the same as VMB5000.

Thank you very much, JamesC!

My only feedback would be to update the data sheets for the 4540 to include that information, as that might help someone else down the road with the same question.

I appreciate the help!
