What is the benefit of a SmartHub, or its purpose
if the Arlo Ultra and Pro 3 can probably connect (sync?) directly to Wi-Fi router.
Some Arlo cameras/floodlights do not need a SmartHub but what is its purpose
or advantage? Thank you.

These two models cannot connect to your home wifi, they require a smarthub.
The Pro 3 floodlight, Pro 4, and Pro 5s can connect to either.
