Turns out I just needed a new battery - question for group - is there anyway to check battery life? Or is there a rule of thumb for replacing batteries?
thanks

Have you tried to preform the reset on it before trying to onboard it?

This was using the sync button inside the camera? Removing/readding the camera is supposed to work also, but I think it's best to use the sync button. If you did use the sync button, did you see the amber LED flash?
You could also try adding the camera from a PC browser (my.arlo.com) - that might help.
Some other aspects:
- If you use a VPN, then turn it off during the install
- if the camera isn't being connected to your main wifi network, then make sure the phone is on the same network. Also make sure that the network doesn't isolate clients from each other (many guest networks do this by default).

You could monitor the battery voltage after charging since that will decrease slowly over time. Otherwise, you can just monitor the number of days between charges as a rough indicator as well as the battery percentage shown in the camera's settings. Remember that li-ion batteries have best life when maintained between 40-80%. Letting them fully discharge should be avoided.

Nothing built in. You can track the time between recharges, that will give you some idea. Though that does depend on weather and usage, so it is just a rough guide.

New Question:
Camera now kinda works:
Durring the daytime everything is fine.
After dark and when motion triggers the spotlight: there is a short and kicks the camera offline. I then have to:
remove camera from app
reset camera
reinstall camera
Battery reads 94%
perplexed
thanks

Can you explain what you mean by "There is a short"?

A like an electrical short - I think
once the light comes on - the camera shuts down and is offline at that point.
Hope this makes sense?

Does this also happen when you turn on the light manually while livestreaming?
