Hub stop recording locally as soon as the free cloud period expire. What’s going on?

The hub should continue after the trial and would be the only way to view recordings without a subscription. Have you removed the drive and tried viewing on a computer to verify that nothing is being recorded? Is it possible that there was nothing to record in the first place? Be sure the drive is 16GB or larger and formatted in FAT32, preferably using the app to format it when connected to the hub.
