Why is it that without paying for a subscription, we can't utilize activity zone features? The cameras are already a very expensive out of pocket cost. Other competitors such as Blink have this feature for free. The camera battery is the only thing I understand that is affected and this is resolved by recharging it more frequently (unless attached to a solar charger). This feature should be added for free to people with local storage, and at the very least those with local storage and an attached solar charger.

You can use Activity Zones W/O a sub if the camera is on AC power for Pro3. The camera will process it within the cam. If on battery it would drain the batter fast so it sends the recordings to the server to determine if it is the zone or not so a sub is required for that. A Solar panel is not AC as it is just a trickle charger.
What are activity zones and how do I create them? (arlo.com)

So I have to spend $300 more dollars to hire an electrician to come out and put an outlet on the outside of my house m? Because myself like many others I would presume, don’t have outdoor outlets high up on our houses. So this resolution is moot for most users.
That's up to you. They have an 8 or 25 foot outdoor AC cable so the outlet doesn't need to be high up. Or spend up to 10 bucks a month for a sub and get other options.
