Using the waterproof, 8 foot cable to install an outdoor camera is a problem. If I wire a/c to an outlet box next to the camera,, then I will have a 7-foot coil of wire hanging there.. If I can pull the cable thru the wall to my garage,, i could plug it into an inside outlet. This won.'t work in a living area very well. Has anyone come up with a good way to deal with the coil of cable outside? Pulling the ugly black cable into a living room to reach an outlet isn't acceptable either. Battery powered cams won't work at a remote property that is not attended. 6 months or more. Anyone solve this problem?

Anything is possible. Weatherproofing would be the major issue.

Your choice as to aesthetics but I recently coiled extra wire inside the cover of the outdoor outlet.

Could that 8 ft. cable be shortened, carefully and reliably?

Couldn’t you hardwire the outdoor adapter directly into the box where the external receptacle is? Guessing 2 wires inside the adapter (power, and neutral — I don’t think it’s grounded since no third prong). You would need to run the wire though the same wire clamp though which the Romex leading into the box is wired.
