I have my asus router 2.4 ghz wifi set to band 12, since the Arlo Neatgear router is set to band 8.

But now Neatgear has changed to band 12 also? why and how can I avoid that?

That is normal and the Arlo base will follow the same channel as your router if close to it....

Netgear has tested this and it has shown that when two transmitters are next to each other, they work better on the same channel.

If you move the base more than 20 or so ft away it will stay on it's own channel.

BTW, I have two base within ( each side ) 7 ft of my main router and it does not cause any issues on the 15 cameras

Who has a channel 12?  Did Asus change the 802.11 standard?
