This base station will not format USB drive to use for local storage. I formatted fat32 and still says it needs to be formatted but errors out. I see there is a firmware update for vmb4000 but not the 4500?!?

What are you trying to format?

The size and type?

I tried it on a 2TB Seagate External Drive, A 5TB Seagate External Drive and 1 TB PNY Thumb Drive ... all failed with the message: Your USB device failed to format.

5 TB is not surprising - most operating system won't format drives > 2TB with FAT32.

What happens if you format the drives as FAT32 in a PC,  and then connect them to the base?
