Just inserted a USB drive to capture videos.  Very weird formatting.  Issued the format..said it was formatting then ended quickly and gave an error about storage not being ejected properly.  Stats look ok and it gives a realistic available storage amount.  How do I know that videos are going to it and why does it have a red message at the bottom to format the USB device?

just bought the Pro 2 yesterday.

To view any recordings, use the app, go to the library and click on the "Cloud" icon and change it to your base/hub. Any recordings should show up. Otherwise, safely eject the drive and view on a computer.

The option to format the drive is always there in case you need/want to format the drive again for any reason.

I went into the app and then library but there is no cloud icon visible. The library view shows the captures with options only for filter or select.

BTW, if in doubt, you can always format the external drive device directly on the computer ( as opposed to in the base ) by using FAT32 format

Are you running the latest app? Uninstall and reinstall the app.

Hi Jeff_h,

Is this happening on the web client on your computer as well? You can try formatting through the web client to see if that helps. You can read more about it here: How do I format a USB device for local storage using my Arlo Pro base station?

Only on the iPhone app.

Appears all is ok.  I’ve been watching the storage that the app displays and it is being used so the USB must be working ok.

The storage to USB does seems to slow down viewing a recent video.  My iPhone gets the alert but it takes up to a minute for the video to be available.
