System does not pre-record any event when triggered by motion

I am noticing the system does not pre-record any events when triggered by motion. Many cameras use this technology having at least 30 seconds of recording prior to being activated in some manner. There are also no manual activations for recording video from the live view (only still images). This along with the zero prerecording function is where I often miss what has set off my camera as they have passed by it. I also lack the ability to capture any video from a manual setting where a criminal event was taking place at my residence and i would not be able to activate a recording to capture the event in its entirety.

The 3 second "look back" feature requires that the camera be powered by an ac adapter
