My base station and Cameras stopped working. I spoke to someone who said I needed to pay for a subscription for them to work again.. Is that true?  There is no one to call and no way to call to ask that simple question.  Thank you

You don’t need a subscription to make the pro2 cameras work. Any camera models after the pro2 do need it to enable basic features.
What is now true is that you need a subscription to obtain arlo support outside of this forum. Users here are not arlo so can only provide suggestions to help resolve issues.
Can you provide more details?

My system stopped working one day and everything that I have done to true to reboot it leads me to the message for both cameras that says I need a subscription to operate it. I know this is not true and of course there is no one to talk to and the bot is a joke. I cannot even get to where I can purchase a subscription if I wanted to. So frustrated.

If you have activity zones defined for any camera, try removing them. Zones requires a subscription.
