The solar panel when seeing sun will keep the battery packs fairly full .... never had to charge up my Pro/Pro2 when connected.

If the battery charge is down the solar panels will provide a charge to them provided that there is sufficent sunlight falling on the solar panel. My solar panles only get a few hours of sunlight each day and my batteries never fall under 90% charge.
