2025 September : Had Arlo Pro 2 for years with no real issue, good quality sound and video, and suddenly out of the blue, the recorded sound on live or record is very loud for no reason on all 4 cameras, 3 plugged in and one on a solar panel - same problem.
An update has been done recently (can't remember when - just realised the change lately) and this issue appeared. Software and hardware updates are done. Connecting and disconnecting didn't solve that problem. Videos are unusable now as this sound (static + clicking + amplified surrounding sound - although super quiet isolated area) is unbearable.
Just to be more specific: nothing changed in the location/installation/surrounding of those cameras, meaning no possible interferences or else.
A solution to this?
Thanks

I have the exact same problem. Just came on recently with three Arlo Pro 2 cameras that have been functioning fine for years. I have tried everything with the cameras and the hub with no luck. The only thing that helps is turning off the microphone. But then you lose the ability to hear what is going on around the camera. Unacceptable.

Have you tried the audio settings in the camera settings to see if that makes a difference? It may be useful to remove and reinstall one camera to see if that makes a difference. That could be risky, though, given the number of reports of not being able to add cameras back to the account.

I'm having this exact same problem. Occurred after doing the updates. Wasn't having any issues before and I've had my Arlo for years! I haven't been able to fix this issue! Very frustrating! Hopefully someone will come up with a solution and post it here.🤷🏾♀️

Thanks for the feedback. Does anyone happen to have a recording of the audio before this symptom occurred and one after?

I note that the audio levels of live and recordings for the pro2s are now of a higher level ~20db since the android arlo app updated on 10 September 2025.

Does the level using web client match the app?

If I download the recordings to an iPhone they don’t present the difference in audio levels, but the android device will.

I'm a bit confused.
It sounds like you might be saying that the Android Arlo app is playing them back at a higher level. Not that the mic level in the camera has changed.
If it the mic level in the recording had increased, then the level would be higher on every playback device.
If you play back the recording using your normal Android media player (not the Arlo app), is it also louder?

@DannyBearAgain & @TropicalStorm
Is this only occurring for recordings saved to the cloud or during live streaming as well?

Yes, the later recordings play louder in the android player app.
Edit: also Arlo app has higher audio levels when live viewing.

Does this occur on battery power and when plugged in to AC power?

All four pro2 behaves the same way on android when live streaming, playback of cloud recordings as well as downloaded to gallery.
Two cameras are battery only, two are externally powered with battery.

Further update is that the audio level increase is the same on the iPhone between recordings, I was in error previously so your analysis is correct.
Audio is now louder on iPhone app for live streaming, cloud recordings and downloaded to photo library.
I confirmed the same using a friend account also.

Ok, so it sounds like the mic level on the camera has changed to a higher level, which apparently is resulting in distortion/clipping.
