Hi, I’ve had my arlo cameras for 4 plus years now and so far they have been ok. I’ve had problems in the past with the cameras all going offline at the same time due to the internet and yes the internet is not the fastest around here but why is there no notification type thing that can be sent to your trusted device or email saying that it went offline? It would be nice to get a notification saying this as lots of times you don’t know and then it comes back online again. At least if we have an approximate time when it went offline and someone say did break in or vice versa and your system doesn’t not video, you can know roughly what time that was.

Hi @paloma801
At this time, Arlo devices do not provide an immediate email or push notification when a camera or doorbell loses Wi-Fi connectivity. While the Arlo app may eventually display a “Device Offline” status once the system detects a prolonged disconnection, there is currently no real-time alert that triggers the moment Wi-Fi service is interrupted or unavailable.

The cameras do not have a feature to notify you when they go offline for whatever reason. Whether it’s power, WiFi, lost signal, battery. There is no way to know if a camera/s go offline.
At 3:30 am I’m awake feeding my baby. I go to sleep, but, i check the cameras right before as they’re installed on a new build in a crappy area. Everything looks good perfect off to sleep I go.
The wife wakes up to pump at 5:00am. She woke me to tell me the cameras are offline and not working.
i speed to the new build, low and behold they had broken into the house and stolen over $2,000 worth of stuff.
Who knows why the camera went out, but it doesn’t matter. The fact that they did go out and I got NO notification, about anything at all. Why, why, if they would’ve notified me when they went out I would’ve easily sped over there immediately to make sure everything was good. However nothing came through it took my wife to wake me up to realize we had been robbed. This just saying a huge security risk. We bought 9 total cameras and they’re all being returned because that’s ridiculous.

Sorry to hear about your experience.
The signal broadcast by WiFi cameras, not just Arlo but any, can be disrupted. In some countries like the UK, the use of such tools is illegal but despite that, they can still be purchased over the internet. This is a matter for the government to tighten such laws.
However, this doesn't mean that the thieves did indeed use such a tool. Unfortunately, despite multiple requests, Arlo hasn't added logs to their system, preventing users from being able to see whether their cameras were offline at the time. I don't know, though, if such logs are available at the police's request.
So, unless you obtain such logs, you won't be able to tell whether it was Arlo or the thieves that are responsible for your cameras not recording the incident.

First and foremost, it is absolutely disgraceful that you sell a product where there is NO human being to answer people's queries especially for a security product that does not work. We have your doorbell security camera. The WiFi drops regularly; Alro claims to have feature where it will email you or alert you that the signal was dropped. I cannot find this anywhere and the useless virtual assistants are clueless. We were sadly robbed and Arlo 'Secure' was useless as the signal was not operating. I suspect they used WiFi jammers in this instance - but isnt this a security company? Would the app email if they cant connect to WiFI?! Is this what you want your customers to know about? Can you urgently let me know how I can turn on an alert to let me know that the Wifi is not working? Otherwise we must replace this product as it is a complete waste of money. I await your response and hopefully a human being will have the ability to answer this email properly and expediently. It honestly means Arlo takes no accountability for their products if no human being can be contacted...

This is precisely the feature that would help all users know what is going on with their systems.

True. Though it would also reduce the battery life, so there is a tradeoff here.

Battery life is Not an issue if it's on solar panel/plugged in!

Certainly not an issue if plugged in.
Less of an issue with the solar panel, though that depends on overall usage and outdoor temps. The panel sometimes can't deliver enough power to keep up with usage, and cameras won't charge below 0C. Even with the panel, I still need to recharge my ultra from time to time.

not looking to hijack this tread
about lack of notifications, 'nice to have' features/alerts...
to talk about the disappointments of the solar panels (have 10 solar panels)- am well aware of their shortcomings
