New Question On Local Storage Remote Access Announcement

With the recent announcement on the app having the ability to remotely access locally recorded files on the flash memory card (in 6-9 months), is this going to be compatible for all the cameras? Since it's an app upgrade, I am hoping it will be available across the board as this is a feature that should have been made available from the initial design of the system.
