We have just purchased the Arlo Pro 2 four pack camera set.

Can you please confirm if VMA 4900 has replaced the recalled VMA 4700?

Can we purchase extra USB plugs and cables so that we can plug in the cameras permanently ... only one is supplied in the box? Is it possible to get longer cables ... we want to fix the camera externally and then run the cable through a hole in the facia to an internal plug socket in the loft?

If Arlo don’t supply long suitable cables, I don’t think they do ... I think they are a max of 5m - can anyone recommend one? What are the requirements of the USB plug adapter we need to buy to plug the cable into? Or, can anyone suggest how we can safely extend the cable length so that we can reach the plug socket without getting an electrician to move / add another socket in the loft?

Many thanks in advance

Yes, the 4900 is the new replacement

As to cables, they , TMK, are regular cables, but the adapter is a Qualcom type in that it supples 5v and 9v( 5 v to run and 9v to charge battery )

If you are running on ac only, you can pull the battery and use a regular usb adapter if it supplies at least 1.5a, but a battery is a good backup and it will not be overcharged if left in with the Arlo supplied adapter

Arlo does sell adapter/cables with either a spare battery or a tube charger;

The tube charger is a good option as the tube will charge the battery a bit more than doing it in the camera
