had time set to fixed time the night someone drove into our light pole, camera missed the entire thing. Would it be better to have setting set to Record until activity stops?

Personally,I only use a fixed time...how long depends on camera.

I have seen the “record till motion stops “ stop to soon as the camera fails to see more motion.

In both settings t fixed and motion, remember it takes more than 15 sec or so for the cameras to reset after a trigger event

It should not make a difference since nothing was recorded. Was it within normal range you get other recordings like less the 25 feet. Even if you see it in the cam view it may be out of range of motion sensor. Mabey try repositioning the camera for that area.

the camera caught everything but the car that hit the pole, it got video right before but not when it happened
