Do I need to have the battery in the camera when plugged in? Or can I remove the battery?

Arlo says you can do this either way.  If the battery is inserted, then of course the camera will continue to work if the power fails.  But if that is not a concern, then you can just take the battery out.

If you live in a very cold climate, you probably should remove the battery in the winter, because the camera will run at a lower temp w/o the battery.
