Do Arlo Pro 2 cameras continue to record when viewing live?

Not sure which base station we are using but I doubt it matters for this type of scenario.
The QUESTION: Arlo Pro 2 system, 4 cameras, are the cameras suppose to continue to record when viewing the live stream through the app or browser?
There is about an hour today 02/23/2020 between 430pm and 530pm when a user was viewing live and the cameras failed to record anything during that time period.
I do have a USB drive attached and have not had a chance to check that yet, the property belongs to my grandparents, one is dead and the other is in an assisted living home.
We need to be able to keep track of who is taking what, when from the house at all times including monitoring the exterior.

Usu when LIVE view is going on , the cameras will NOT record due to motion... as you are over-riding the mode
You must start a manual record by hitting the record icon ( looks like target logo; round circle with center dot )
Morse is faster than texting!
