I'm concerned about the effect of a 100 db siren on my dog's ears. Can the base unit be placed in the garage? I'm in Michigan so it does get cold.

The siren has three level settings but not sure if it makes a difference to a dog. The siren only works for a few minutes at a time if that’s helpful.
The base specifications are,
Operating temperature
32° to 122° F (0° to 50° C)

It's like smoke alarms. The sound has to be loud enough to be heard in other rooms. The distance to the 100dB sound sin't noted but it's usually a couple to a few feet. It's not 100dB all over the house, just near the base. Put it in the garage if you like but you probably won't hear it.
