Hi,

Just bought a brand new VMB4500r2 with 4x Pro 2 cameras.

I cant get a single camera to connect to the basestation.

The basestation connected fine, and the app for the iPhone just worked as it should.

It updated the firmware to 1.16.2.3_3400.... no problems.

When connecting the cameras, i inserted batteries in each of the cameras.

Then went through the guide in the app for adding cameras.

The camera starts blinking blue as it is supposed to when i click the sync button.

Then the app starts searching and the basestation also starts blinking blue.

The app says it is searching, but then nothing happends from there.

After some time the camera blinks amber and the app asks to try again.

I have tried all four cameras - one at the time - and after that, all four at the same time.

I have tried to charge a camera, and done the procedure.

I have kept a short distance between the camera and the base station (<3 ft).

I have tried factory reset of the basestation and just went with basic settings.

All without a single camera connected to the app/basestation.

What am i doing wrong?

I was just about to give up yesterday, but then i decided to give it one last try.

I removed all batteries from the cameras.

Then factory reset of the base station (30 sek. hold of the reset button).
Then installed the base station with standard settings.

I went to the Arlo app and choose add devices => Camera etc.

The i waited to mount the battery until i was asked to press the sync button.

I then put in the battery, and pressed sync a couple of seconds later (i did not close the battery cover, until later)
The camera was within 1 feet of the base station.

And then after about 20 seconds it found the camera.

Then i followed the same procedure with the remaining 3 cameras.

Try to see if that works on your installation 🙂

A couple of things:

1) You don't need the app to sync these cameras. Just push the buttons.

2) Only briefly press the base sync button - don't hold it for two seconds. Then press the camera sync button.

Just tried the 2 suggested sollutions again. Same result.

Both the base station and the camera starts blinking blue, and goes on for about a minute or so.

After that the camera blinks in amber for 2-5 seconds, and in about the same time the base station goes back to a steady blue light. Nothing gets added.

The camera is about a feet away from the base station.

The camera is fully charged.

Any other ideas?

I have exactly the same problem with my brand new VMB4500r2. Straight out of the box and it doesn't work. Very disappointing indeed.

Try resetting the system by removing the base from Settings, My Devices. You can also hold the reset button for >10 seconds until the LED(s) flash amber. Claim the base again and try syncing.

I did that again today. One time together with Arlo support and once by my self.
Same result.

I’ve tried to unplugging the network cable and trying to connect just by using the Sync buttons. Same result.

So my money are on a faulty product.

What scares me is that other people seems to have the same result with brand new Arlo Pro 2 products.

Literally everything Thomas says he has done is the same as I had tried already with the same outcome, usually with quite a few attempts. There seems to be something wrong with the product for these things to just not sync up. Part of the reason of buying a wireless kit is that it’s easy to set up because you don’t want to spend days getting up and working. The product has utterly failed to deliver in that regard.
