Equipment:

  • VMB4000 Base station
  • 5 VMC4030P Arlo Pro 2 Camera

Issue:

  • Base station records for a day then stops working.
  • I can log in to alro view device status and make setting changes
  • Thumbnails show for the cameras for the last recording
  • Live video is not available for all cameras (Clicking plays says connecting then returns to the old thumbnail)
  • The restart button in the arlo app does not function/not enabled
  • Restarting the device physically restores all confections and recording

Troubleshooting

  • Reset cameras
  • Created new mode
  • Factory reset

Background:

  • I have been battling this issue for several months and it has been getting worse.  Initial recording would stop after a week now I am only getting about a day
  • I have a local USB SSD drive used for local storage that keeps getting corrupted.  Currently its still connected but the base station doesn't recognize it is connected.

Thoughts or advice would be greatly appreciated.

I finally narrowed the issue down to the ssd drive which kept getting corrupted.  I left it plugged in. The base station didn’t show any external storage attached but it clearly was trying to still use it. Once I removed the storage device and restarted the base station, recordings and notifications functioned again. I reconnected the drive and within an hour it was in the same state requiring a restart.

@ShayneS Do you have any suggestions?  I am out of town and have no security system functionality.

@thorinman

To further troubleshoot the device we would likely need someone to be physically present.

@ShayneS I will be home tomorrow. What would you suggest to troubleshoot?  I already know restarting the base station will resolve the issue for the a day or so.

After re-reading all of your trouble shooting steps and seeing that a factory reset has not resolved the issue, this hardware may be faulty.

I have inquired with my support team and I will provide an update as soon as I can.
