Base station went offline after ethernet cable had been disconnected a couple of days. All diodes shows green light. All steps in the troubleshoot guide rebooting etc all the way up to factory reset has been performed. Station was before the reset also connected to another router. Both routers have been tested for internet access. System has been working without any interruption for 2 years before this happened. Warranty expired in May. Is there anything more to test or shall I purchase a new base station and can I trust it will work with a new base station?

It does sound like a faulty base. I would buy a new one - go for at least the VMB4540 so you can also use local recordings from the app but be sure you have a return privilege.
