Batteries ran down over night 8-12 hours. Is this problem in the way I have the settings?

Always ask, how often is the camera recording ( or total mins )... ?
spec use is about 5 mins recording/live view per day. My Pro batteries usu run 2-3 months

I plug all mine in except one. The one on battery lasts about 1 month.
As metioned, it depends how much motion is is detecting and recording. Some things to extend battery:
• Adjust video quality
• Adjust sensativty (so only larger objects/movement is detected)
• Set activity zone to exclude moving branches, cieling fans...
• Re point camera to not see obects that constantly move
If possible plug it in; you get motion captured 3 seconds before it happens

Length of recording is also super critical. Agree that when possible use a powered camera. Use batteries only when absolutely required. Consider overlapping camera views with a battery camera triggering motion events, recording briefly and causing a powered camera to record from a different vantage point at the same time. High traffic areas will burn through batteries. In low traffic areas, batteries will last for several months. Solar panels help A LOT as well, if the location is right.
