I have 2 properties that I decided to use 5 cameras each if I purchase the Arlo 2. I see there is a 6 camera kit and a 4 camera kit. Can I take one of the cameras in the 6 camera kit and use it with the 4?

Are the cameras tied to a specific base station? (In case I mix up the cameras and have to decipher which camera belongs to which base station)

Yes although you may have issues re-adding that camera back to the 6 camera system. Dunno if anyone has tried that. Might work, might not. In any event, the cameras are not tied to a base. Just remove it from one and add it to the other.

Thanks for responding. Can you please elaborate what you mean by I might have issues readding a camera back to the 6 camera system? What issue might I run into since the cameras are not tied to a base. Is it merely from the software that I just add/remove cameras to the base?

This is slightly complicated so I will give you my understanding of how it works:

1) Any of the original Wire Free HD, Pro and Pro 2 model cameras will work with either the original base or the Pro base.

2) When you purchase the six camera set, I think you get a special offer in that your free plan will include six cameras instead of the normal 5, so yes, you could take the extra camera and add it to the four camera purchase thus having five cameras on each base.

3) BUT, the number of cameras in the free plan is based on the email accounts. So, after you setup the six camera system and went to add the other cameras, if you use the same email address you will be four cameras over the plan limit and you will have to pay for the ability to use these extra four cameras, (above and beyond the six camera limit) of the original purchase. To avoid paying for the use of the other four cameras, you will have to set them up on another email address. To be able to see all ten cameras in the same app you will have to grant access from one email address cameras to the other email address and vice versa. But the two systems must be armed/disarmed seperately with the Modes and Rules set up seperately.

Or just purchase the ten camera plan, (I believe it is about $100, (USD), per year and be done with it and use the same email address for all of them.

There is no limit as to how many base stations you have and as far as I know, they can be at different locations.

As pointed out above, in order to use the 6 camera set on the free basic plan you had to use the proper code as you set up. Removing a camera shouldn't affect that so re-adding the camera (or a new one) shouldn't be an issue but I can't be sure since I don't have a way to test that. I believe the code would still be stored so any 6 cameras should work on that one account.

Lots of "should" in the above...
