I am a long time Arlo Pro 2 user with the free 7 day recording. Everything works great.

I wanted to add a net Essential Indoor Gen 2 and it is asking me upgrade my app. I have been reading about issues with the new Arlo UI which is fine, but what I wanted to make sure is that I don't lose my 7-day recording for my Pro 2's if I upgrade to the new app? I am using the cloud for recording not the local and I am using the VMB4000r3 base station.

Thanks in advance.

The free 7 day plan has nothing to do with the app or user interface version. The legacy cameras continue to receive the old/original plan with recordings. The new camera(s) will need a subscription for cloud recordings.

Thank you. One more question. If I am running the old app and someone shares access to a newer camera like the Essential Indoor - will I be asked to upgrade my app to view the new camera?

If someone running "Feed" shares their cameras with you, then you will need to migrate to "Feed" in order to see them (and their recordings) in your account.
