Could I connect an external USB HDD to the Base Station to have extra capacity storage?

Not really...
The USb port for a drive or speedstick is for BANCKUP only if the internet fails...
Motion detected recording go to the cloud AND the usb drive.
( the only advantage is they are not auto deleted after so many days like the cloud ...so if you use a 32gb speed stick, you will have more storage than 30 plus days if thats what you mean )

Thank you so much for your fast response, so my next question is what will happen if I have the elite plan with 2 cameras for 60 days but I need the best image resolution? How many GBs I have with the elite plan?

There's currenly no limit for the cloud storage on any plan other than the length of time the videos are available.
