Arlo, for whatever reason, decided to remove one of the best features of the Arlo application - I can't believe how bad the product management team is at making such a bad, horrible decision. If you are listening to the users, please add that feature back as soon as you can, else Arlo will be losing lots of users.,
Frustrated user who was relatively happy with Arlo before this, now I'm just a very, very unhappy customer.
Other's in community, please chime in.

We’ve heard your feedback, and the development team is working hard to deliver a similar custom modes experience that legacy users have come to enjoy while maintaining all the new improvements and features included in the latest version of the Arlo Secure App. We will keep the community up to date as we approach the release of this highly anticipated feature.
Thank you all for your continued feedback in helping make the Arlo experience the best it can be!

Just been forced to do an upgrade on the app and can’t believe the customisation feature has been removed. The three modes do not provide enough flexibility. When is this going to be fixed?

I also am not happy with the new upgrade. I have 3 cameras that I want to run only at night when were home and then be able to change them to record while away. I'm changing to a new security service.
Long time customer but not any more. Bummer
Took a great thing and ruinded it.

You can do that.
If you post your schedule automations, then we can give some tailored advice.

Eufy is certainly a very interesting alternative. I have cancelled my subscription and have started with S340 - incredible camera, Arlo does not have a similar camera.

I started to play with Eufy, so far very interesting solution which provides AI with out subscription.
You can even train with pictures from your family and only get notifications when “strangers” are detected 👍

Has the custom modes issue been fixed yet in development after 6+months of waiting?
I'm sure many of us want to know. Thanks

I’m to afraid to try since I was able to go back to original modes never trying again until I know it’s better!

Bring Back the Option to Arm/Disarm Individual Cameras
One of the best and most sensible features in the previous Arlo app experience was the ability to arm or disarm individual cameras. That’s now gone in the latest version—and I can’t understand why.
This was incredibly useful in practical, everyday scenarios. If I’m working in the garden and moving around in view of one camera, I could disarm just that one to avoid endless smart alerts and unnecessary battery drain—while keeping the rest of the system active. Now, it’s all or nothing. I either have to turn off the whole system or live with constant, pointless alerts and battery use.
This isn’t just about convenience—it’s about flexibility and control, the very reason many of us choose Arlo in the first place.
Please bring this feature back. At the very least, give users the choice to enable or disable individual camera arming within custom modes.

Still as of 2024-03-17 03:43 PM the custom modes are still not fixed yet.
That is over 1.5 years and we were told that they are paying attention to feedback.
Even from my post in Feburary of 2025.
If this hasn't been fixed by now it never will be, so no point in waiting any more.

Thanks for the announcement and supporting the custom
mode feature. Q - does it only support 1 custom mode or can you have multiple custom modes ?

The Q isn't supported in custom modes. Otherwise, you can create multiple custom modes for a camera (or hub) and switch between them when you activate it.

How about making sure you don’t break existing geofencing before introducing something new!
AND PLEASE EXPLAIN HOW CUSTOM MODES WITHOUT THE ABILITY TO USE AUTOMATIONS IS OF ANY USE? Arlo yet again manage to exceed my already low expectations of them

The goal was to bring back the approach in the old interface as an option for the folks who wanted that. So they are designed to handle both geofencing and scheduliing without automations (like the old interface did).
Though there are are still issues with some legacy cameras (notably Q, Baby and the original Go).
