Can anyone tell me if I have camera mode set to armed for motion and sound detection, but camera OFF to save battery, will the camera take pictures when motion is detected? Thank you

Nope.  The On/Off switch disables the camera completely.  The solar panel or weatherproof power supply could be a solution.
