I have two of these cameras. I have selected to only receive notifications if a person is in my building. My cats set it off all the time. Does not seem to matter which I chose to select as far as notifications - ie, people, animals or motion. Everything sets it off and it sends me emails. I want to turn off the email function but either am doing something wrong or it does not work properly. I get over 200 notification emails a day. The other camera works perfectly.

Try removing the camera from your account and set it back up as if new. Email notifications are set in the camera's modes and rules, near the bottom. It may also be worth reducing the camera motion sensitivity while you're editing the rule - test to ensure people record but the cats don't.
