i have the camera set to no spotlight , night vision on , middle brightness , but there is a visible white light reflecting in the room off a glass cabinet on the far side of the room off to an angle -the camera is on a shelf , so does reflect off the surface there a bit .. if i turn off night vision the white light goes .  i thought that IR was not that detectable ?

When night vision is used on my pro2 I can see the camera LEDs glowing red. I guess if there is a reflective surface it may alter the light spectrum to shine white, ie removing the red colour. If you point a tv remote at the camera it shows white on the video.

The camera also has a infrared motion sensor that detects changes in the infrared levels in front but it does not generate a infrared light source.

Night vision is in B&W so any light, regardless of color, shows as white.

Of course the camera can "see" the light when it is put into nightvision mode.

Maybe test the camera at night to make sure the spotlight isn't coming on though.  And maybe double-check that some other light source isn't causing the reflection.
