Yes. You control this in the camera rules.

Hi, I have looked at all of the settings and unable to see anything relating to the time adjustment for the camera. I only have the essential so perhaps it's not available on this product.

It is available for the Essential (and all other Arlo cameras).
Did you go to the modes screen and edit the armed mode? Then you'll see the camera rule - recording duration is in the rule (as the article I linked in above says).

These are the steps for the "Library" experience. I'm doing this in the web ui (my.arlo.com), but they are very similar in the app.
1. Select mode.
2. Select the device (base or camera) in the left pane and then select the > next to the "Armed" mode
3. Edit the rule for the camera
4. Select the > next to "Record Video"
5. Either select "record until activity stops", or set a fixed recording time using the slider.
