One of my Essential XL cameras is mounted on a big pine tree on the hillside which overlooks my deck and house. The camera is about 100' away from house and during daylight I can see the deck (which is about 50' away from the camera) just fine. At night however, I can't see the deck at all.

Decided to try an inexpensive 6 LED IR light from Amazon to try to illuminate the deck with it and increase the visibility night vision range. As you can see from the attached photos, the results are dramatic. It not only illuminated the deck, but also the pine trees about 50' away on the right hand side.

I know, I could have mounted the camera on the same tree as the IR device to illuminate the deck, but I wanted to see the empty space between the big pine tree and the deck as it can capture wildlife That happens by both day and night.

Thx for sharing.  The IR floodlights definitely improve the NightVision range.
