arlo essential spotlight camera vmc2230 can't find device

Hi

Have just purchased 2 of these, have got the app, scanned the qr code, camera chimes but app says 'no arlo devices found.

just wondering if anyone has some pointers to help out.

im not sure about the router being 2.4 its a IPRIMUS  router and WPA (whatever that means)

In addition, you should check the router settings (or have someone help you) to verify that the encryption is WPA2, not just WPA. Big difference. Arlo needs WPA2.

If it is a Huawei HG659 then it is dual band (both 2.4 ghz and 5 ghz).

 

You can try setting it up with a PC browser (my.arlo.com), and see if that works.

 

You can also try logging into the router's web ui (username/password is likely printed on a label), and see if there is a way to disable the 5 ghz band.  Then try setting up the camera again.  Of course re-enable 5 ghz after you've tried this.

thanks for the reply.

my phone says the wifi is only WPA and i can't find anywhere that shows me how to change it to WPA2.

im a bit computer savvy but not great.
