When my WiFi has outage & reconnects, my Arlo base station/router won’t connect without being reset. The constant attempts by the 4 cameras we have to connect to the base station drains the battery.  This just started happening 2 months ago.

Is the base connected directly to the router, or is it using a WiFi extender or mesh satellite?

Is it only the internet that is dropping?  Or are you also getting a power glitch of some kind?

It’s hard to say because we are not there.  But I would guess that it’s both.

Connected directly to base station/router with Ethernet.

Both meaning the WiFi went out due to electrical power going out for a bit.

if the power goes out, does the base station/router need to be manually reset? (Holding the button down for 10 seconds etc)

Of course a short power failure would also disrupt your internet.  I am thinking that power glitches are more likely to be the cause.

There are a couple of approaches here.

Some folks have connected the base via a smart switch (Wemo or equivalent), which allows them to power-cycle the base remotely.

Others have put in a small UPS that keeps their base (and often their internet) running over short power failures.

Since I won’t know hen the power goes out, I believe I should try the ups.  Do I plug just the Arlo Base Station/Router into the ups?

Yes.  You can also plug in your main router (and cable modem if you have one).

It doesn't need to be very large - a 350VA UPS should be enough, as this equipment doesn't use that much power.
