I cannot seem to get the base station to record to my library. There is an external storage port which I have in use, however I would like to see recordings via the app. Arlo doesn't provide support without a subscription, so I'm turning to you all.

That requires a smarthub base (VMB4540 or VMB5000).  Your post says you have a VMB3000, and that doesn't support direct access to local storage.  https://kb.arlo.com/000062337/What-is-Direct-Storage-Access-and-how-do-I-use-it

Smarthubs aren't that easy to find - out of stock everywhere I've looked recently.  So you might need to purchase a subscription until you can find a smarthub, and cancel if after you've tried out direct access to local storage, and confirmed that it works for you.

    The feature has several limitations:

    • No ability to make manual recording
    • No ability to allow friend account access to the videos
    • No ability to see the videos from a PC browser
    • No thumbnails
    • Remote access to videos can be tricky to set up (requires either port forwarding in your router, or a VPN connection to your router).

    What cameras do you have?

In addition, Arlo DOES provide support regardless of whether you have a subscription. Use the Contact Support link at the bottom here.

Thanks Stephen. It's actually the VBM4000 that I have, not the 3000. I must have hit the wrong thing when I created the post. I have the Essential cameras.

The VMB4000 is a base not a Smart Hub so what StephenB said would apply for App access.

What is the difference between each Arlo SmartHub and base station?

Right.  You can eject the USB drive using the app/browser and then connect it to your PC.  That's the only way to see the videos with your base.
