we purchased two arlo essentials and a hub because it advertised with the hug could do your own recordings but the alerts without a subscription are driving us crazy to point turning cameras off which defeats the point of cameras every time the wind blows a leaf you get an alert I think surely considering they are one of the most expensive cameras at Bunnings it should have basic features around alerts without paying for a subscription???

also what it does record is terrible it takes like ten seconds once movement starts to start recording n night vision terrible we got it for our back lane after having trouble but records once someone already there n stops while still movement so you can’t see where came from or which way went ?

There are some settings that can be adjusted to help reduce false triggering.

motion sensitivity, audio sensitivity can be reduced in the mode camera rules as well as recording duration.

Night vision quality is poor at a distance, you could use a motion trigger spotlight to better improve the picture quality or a infrared flood light if you don’t want to annoy the neighbours.

Motion triggering is limited to 25ft from the camera and concentrated to the lower angle level so if camera is mounted high up you loose some detection at a distance as well as directly from below.

placement of the camera should be to capture motion across the FOV where the motion sensor is most sensitive as objects walking toward or away from the camera often are missed.

If you’re camera streaming is often delayed and connected directly to the local router wifi you can try using a Base station to connect them to as it uses it’s own wifi closed network.
