First few seconds

my Arlo Essential is pointing to the hallway and the entrance of the room #1 in the house. Camera itself is located above the room #2 door which is  on the opposite end of the hallway.  Recordings look fine but first few seconds of when motion is started seem to be lost. Anyway to fix this in settings?

A screenshot of the view may be useful. You may need to reposition the camera so motion is across the FOV rather than directly at it and/or change the motion sensitivity setting in your modes and rules.

Can't do much about the position since it is a narrow hallway and a person can walk either toward the camera or away from it. Currently testing with higher sensitivity number

Just rotating the camera some can help in a tight spot. How about the screenshot?
