Arlo Essential only recording sometimes

I’ve had my Arlo Essential Spotlight cameras for a couple of weeks now. Both have current Arlo Smart subscriptions and I haven’t had any issues, until today when I got a parcel delivered to my doorstep but the camera never recorded anything. I’m not sure how this could have happened as the camera is working and recording fine now without me having done anything, just not at the time when the parcel was delivered. What could have happened?

I can think of 3 reasons:
1) The delivery person approached in a way that was hard to detect.
2) Your motion sensitivity may need to be increased in your modes and rules.
3) You may have a zone set that, along with #1, may have caused no recording.
I like having the cameras connected to a hub since then I can use local recording to determine whether the servers discarded a recording based on settings. Local recordings record everything - no discards. Of course, the camera still has to be able to detect so it can record in the first place.
