Arlo -- you guys need to update your products -- it's a joke that a special character can make a WiFi network unable to connect.

I have a " - " in my WIFI name. This WIFI is connected to dozen of devices. I'm not about to reset because one product has poor programming.

I connected it to a different WIFI network without a dash in the name, but it's not as fast and isn't as close to the camera, so the connection is not as good.

It's a joke of a product if such a thing causes the entire product to fail. Please have your developers work on a fix and roll it out.

Did the camera fail to connect?

Or did you not attempt it because you thought it would fail?

Camera failed to connect, with a warning that "WIFI with special characters will not work" (or something to that affect).

My network has two WAP throughout which is named "Mynetwork-WAP1" (mynetwork not the realname, just using it as example). The camera instantly connected to the wifi called "Mynetwork" and had no issues.

The problem is that WIFI's router is quite a bit further that the WAP.

It's just extremely silly for a product that has such a good reputation to have such a poor point of failure.

FWIW, I agree.

My understanding was that dashes and underscores were ok, but some accented characters were not.  They should fix that, and in the meantime should have a list of what characters are ok.

socool111,

I will raise these details to the dev team for further review. What camera model were you attempting to onboard and what router make/model are you using?

This was the Essential XL outdoor camera.

Router is Nighthawk AC26000, but it was through a WAP by Ubiquiti (Unifi 6 Lite Access)
