Received Essential 2nd generation external camera. When live is on and turning on microphone. There is crackling sound and noise, cannot hear or use for voice. Even taking camera indoor and leave in close room, it is still noise and feedback through camera. Would it be a defect unit.

Could be.

 

Can you exchange it with the seller?  That is generally faster/easier than getting a warranty replacement.

Update on my communication with Arlo support. It is very poor support. As an experienced engineer in telecommunication and technology. I sent video capturing the issue, try different wifi networks, including mobile, hard reset the unit, using different unit without issue. All explain to Arlo technical support, but it seems to go into black hole. Not recommend to purchase from Arlo, very poor after sale customer support.
